October is over which means it’s finally time for another blog income report!
This month has been crazy in so many ways… but it also has been my biggest month yet.

Each month, I share how much money I made with my blog. It may seem a bit weird to you, but it’s actually a pretty common thing in the blogging world.
I still can’t believe it’s possible to make this amount of money with a blog, and I have to pinch myself every time it gets deposited into my bank account.
If you want to start a blog, you should definitely check this step-by-step tutorial where I show you how to start a blog in less than an hour. These are the same exact steps I followed when I started this blog:
- Choose a niche for your blog
- Get a website domain (with Bluehost)
- Create a professional website
Why am I sharing my blog income report with you?
In case you are new here, I’ll start by telling you a little about myself.
I’m a college graduate in Audiovisual Communication. I graduated in June 2020, but I started this blog in September 2018, when I still was a sophomore in college. After realizing how much college cost and seeing the numbers go down every month, I knew I needed to make money ASAP.
I was paying for college solely on my own and I knew I needed to find something that made me money and could work around my college schedule. However, finding a job that made me a decent amount of money and could work around my changing schedule was almost impossible.
One day I stumbled upon a blog income report from a blogger who was making $50,000 a MONTH from her blog! At that time, I didn’t even know you could make money blogging, so that blew me away.
I decided to give it a go and started a blog!
Starting a blog requires a minimum investment (3.95 a month to be exact) so I knew I wouldn’t be losing too much money if it didn’t work out.
Two years later, I have increased my income to make $2,761.61 in ONE month with my blog!

I am writing this blog income report so you can see that it’s possible to make money blogging! I’m not smarter or special, I’m just a girl who decided to start a blog in college and put in the effort to make it work.
Anyone can start a blog that makes money, however, it takes a lot of work and it’s not “quick money”. It takes months or even a year (depending on how much time you invest) of hard work before you start making money with a blog.
It took me about a year after starting my blog to earn consistent money, but I kept working on it because I truly love blogging and this blog income report you’re reading right now definitely proves that hard work pays off!
Proof of Income

October 2020 Blog Income Report (+ Traffic)
Affiliate Income: $301.29
- Amazon Associates: $296.46
- RewardStyle: $4.83
Display Advertising (Mediavine): $2,460.32
TOTAL: $2,761.61
Blogging Expenses
The only regular expense I have for this blog is my web hosting which I pay for annually on November. I’m on a web hosting plan that costs $160 a year, due to the fact that I get so much more traffic now than when I started.
However, when you’re starting you don’t need to spend this amount of money. You can start your blog for just $3.95 a month on Bluehost (this is the most popular web host among bloggers).
I also had some extra expenses this month. I took the Perfecting Pinterest course by Sophia Lee and I got obsessed with it. Sophia is a 23-year-old blogger that makes $70,000 a MONTH from her blog.
When you’re a blogger you need to constantly be learning and testing out new strategies, so taking courses from expert bloggers is the easiest and quickest way to do it. I see it as an investment and I don’t regret spending money on them at all.
This month I also paid for an SEO tool to help me find the best keywords for content creation. This tool is called Keywords Everywhere and it’s so worth it. It was only $10 for 100,000 credits.
1 credit equals 1 search, so I guess they will last me a fair amount of months until I have to pay for it again.
Total income after expenses: $2,652.61

So, How Did I Do It?
This month my traffic and income exploded, but there’s a reason to it: Halloween.
All my Halloween costume ideas posts performed so well and this more than doubled my traffic for October. However, I know this was a one-time thing and I know things will go back to normal in November.
Seasonal content is great to boost your traffic and income because a lot of people are searching for that specific topic, but it only lasts a short period of time. It’s more important to focus on writing posts that will give you a constant source of traffic throughout the whole year.
This month I only got 2 posts up, which isn’t a lot. However, I also worked on updating old posts and optimizing them for SEO. After taking Sophia’s course I’m finally seeing how important SEO is in the blogging world.
I’ve also started researching more topics and keywords I want to hit for Christmas and the new year. I love planning everything and when you’re a blogger you need to plan content months ahead in advance.
My Goals For November 2020
Post at least once per week. This month I haven’t been as productive as I would have liked. I only got 3 posts up and that’s definitely not enough if I want to create a solid source of income with my blog. I want to post more consistently and increase my traffic.
Improve my Pinterest strategy. Now that I’ve taken Sophia’s Perfecting Pinterest course I’m ready to improve my marketing strategy on Pinterest. 90% of my readers come from Pinterest, so I’ll be optimizing my boards for SEO and creating new pins.
Earn $1000 in November from my website. I know I made more than $2000 in October from my blog, but I also know stats will go down now that Halloween is over and people aren’t searching for Halloween costumes anymore. I want to write content on home decor and productivity because I’m highly interested in it and I know it will give me steady traffic.
Write Christmas content. Christmas is the highest season for bloggers, meaning it’s when bloggers earn the most. I barely have Christmas posts on my blog, so I want to focus on creating at least 2 posts more.
Do You Want To Start A Blog?
Starting a blog is, by far, the best decision I’ve ever made!
I make money doing what I love from the comfort of my dorm room, and I love writing content that hundreds of people read every month!
You can read the step-by-step guide to start your own blog. It tells you the exact same steps I followed to start my own blog. This post will help you:
- Decide what you want to blog about (choosing a niche/topic for your blog)
- Choose a name for your blog
- Get your website domain (your website name) on Bluehost. It only costs $3.95 a month.
- Choose a WordPress theme and make your website look professional
That was a lot of information about my blog income report!
